Fountain in Maggia

Highlight • Structure

A fountain in the center of Maggia. Whether this is drinking water is unclear. It's located directly in a parking lot. There's a place to stop for refreshments nearby.

From Maggia to the second crossing of the Salto Bridge, I followed SwitzerlandMobility Route 611 into the Valle del Salto. But I didn't want to go down the same way back down to the valley and also close to the waterfall, so I chose a different option in the end.

Hiking on historical footpaths in the untouched Valle del Salto near Maggia. In the shade of birches and chestnut trees, …
In the end, a detour to the waterfall is worth it for a - very cool refreshment🥶 But also deserved after this hike. Tip; Go in the late afternoon when the sun shines on the waterfall. Then it is warm and the rainbow makes the whole thing perfect.

The ascent began directly in Maggia. We quickly gained altitude over old, beautifully laid granite steps and soon reached the Chapel of Santa Maria della Podia. From here, the view over the Maggia Valley opened up, and at the same time, the actual circular trail into this quiet side …
