Church of Sveti Areh

The Church of Sveti Areh occupies a pleasant spot in the Pohorje Mountains just by the Ruško koča mountain hut at the western end of the Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort. It was first mentioned in 1545, though the current building dates from the 1650s and was renovated in both 1999 and 2018 to give it its present appearance. Below the church is a natural spring that's said to have healing powers.

Since last year playing disc golf is possible in the summer here. You can bring your own disc or you can rent them in Ruška koča. It's free because fee is returned when you bring them back. It's very fun and nice in the summer since it is on high elevation and not so hot and a lot of holes are in the forest.

Žigartov Vrh (1,346 m)

Highlight • Summit

At 4,419 feet (1,347 m), Žigartov vrh is the highest point in the eastern part of the Pohorje Hills. Its summit is marked by a dilapidated survey tower and the panorama is obscured by the tree cover. It's just a short walk from Areh at the western end of the Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort.
