La Pierre Tournante

Highlight • Other

Legendary megalithic block, located above a very old path, it is undoubtedly related to the other standing stones that can be seen in the slopes of the path, but its dominant position has undoubtedly given it a special status. .

Pierre de Nauline

Highlight • Natural Monument

Huge block placed in the river, its probably druidic origin gives it a wonderful character conducive to many legends. Rabelais made it the scene of an adventure of his famous giant Gargantua: this one would have improvised a game of shuffleboard with Lucifer, whose goal was Roussière. La Pierre de Nauline, puck of Gargantua, would be the witness of his victory!

Former spinning mill

Highlight • Other

This old building is the ruin of an old spinning mill which produced wool in the 1860s. It only had a short life as the spinning mill ceased to operate in the 1870s. It was demolished and the stones were used for the construction of the Château de Rosnay, located nearby.

La Pierre aux Fées

Highlight • Other

La Pierre aux Fées du Vigneau, a 23-meter boulder overlooking the Perron valley, was the place of choice for a garache (a sort of were-goat) and many fairies who met there on winter Saturdays to run until midnight, then lead a hellish Sabbath until dawn. After their passage, only "weed with scabs" grew, which could cure their dermatosis, it was said, those who picked it on the night of Saint John, an hour after sunset.

Moulin de la Roussière

Highlight • Other

It was once said that a werewolf prowled around the Moulin de la Roussière, where he came every evening, in the form of a white goat, to eat the flour in the hopper. After this animal had been killed, it was discovered that it was in fact a rich young lady from Paris, and they buried it under a wooden barge. "But black gentlemen came one day from the city with a little dog who discovered the body of the unfortunate woman and the house of the culprits". In the same commune, garaches were recognized to be young ladies from England or Tours after they had been killed.

The garache is, in the folklore of Poitou, a woman who turns into a female werewolf during the night, for a longer or shorter time depending on the seriousness of a crime committed in her human form.

Excellent recommendation @Vanessa!! Thank you 😉 I reworked your trick a little but the basis remains the same 😁.
There is never a dull moment along this river. Which I just discovered elsewhere. All these piles of rocks are magnificent.
I loved it, even if the rain came and spoiled the fun a little.
