Beautiful well-preserved windmill right in Algaida
That's the one with the red hat 😉

Cellar Bar Randa

Highlight • Restaurant

Just stop and eat a typical Mallorcan delicacy. Only Spanish and "spoken with hands and feet" 😃❤️🇪🇸🫒. All is right with the world here. Host and landlady very nice. The Spanish RR drivers pay contactless with their mobile phones. Cash is of course also possible. Cheap and original. You can also simply take a large bottle of water with you here. Either way - highly recommended. I enjoy sitting with the locals. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Randa

Highlight • Settlement

Randa is a pretty village at the foot of the striking Puig de Randa mountain. Historic stone houses characterize the village—and, of course, its stunning location in the green mountain landscape.

Historisches Waschhaus

Highlight • Historical Site

An old wash house as you can always find in Mallorca in Mallorca. Each one very individually as well as this one with its beautiful arches.

Old Washing Trough in Randa

Highlight • Structure

The water flows and is cool and refreshing on the arms and face, which gives a little energy to keep walking. I preferred not to drink the water.

Climb to Santuari de Cura via Puig de Randa

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

For many, the ascent to Cura Monastery only begins in Randa. That's not quite right. Because from Montuïri to Rand you have to cover almost 200 meters in altitude. And you usually have the wind against you. So it's no wonder that you get a little desperate here when things just don't go well. In the opposite direction, of course, it looks different. You literally fly there.

Sanctuary of Cura, Puig de Randa

Highlight • Religious Site

Well-known excursion and hiking destination, accordingly heavily frequented. In addition to the well-frequented gastronomy, there is also a rest area with tables and benches for a less expensive rest. It is much quieter in the monastery chapel than in the back part of the monastery with the gastronomy and the rest area.

The formation of Mount Randa:
An old legend tells that a long time ago a giant crossed the Mediterranean Sea from Algiers. He carried a basket full of stones and earth on his head, and he had tied a ship under his feet so that he would not sink. During a storm off Cabrera, both ships drifted apart and, in order not to lose his balance, he braced himself with his stick on the shore of Cala Pi. But it didn't help, he fell anyway and the contents of his basket spilled out onto the plains of Mallorca. This is where Randa Mountain came from. And from a drop of sweat that hit the ground next to the mountain, the Na Tomasa spring was born.
But that's just a legend, the real story is much scarier:
Mount Randa is hollow inside and supported by four golden pillars. Should the pillars break, not only the mountain but all of Mallorca will collapse. And not only that, "The waves of the sea will crash over Mallorca, and that will be the end of the world," says the phophecy. The Mallorcans say that three of the pillars are already broken and the fourth is damaged.
