Boardwalk on the Hafenlohrbach

Highlight • Bridge

boardwalk
The boardwalk, which has been running through the Hafenlohr valley near Rothenbuch since 2004, was renovated in mid-2012 and has been accessible again since September 2012. The path can be used by hikers who observe the valley's nature, which is worthy of protection, but do not want to damage it.
Among other things, the AGH financed the tools, the Bavarian state forests donated around 20 solid cubic meters of oak wood, and the work was carried out by a group of eight volunteers.
Work started at the end of June 2012. The most complex part was the construction of the new substructure made of oak. Both the old Douglas fir posts and the spruce joists were replaced with oak. Only the substructure of the bridge, which is also new, was made of Douglas fir.
In order to give the bridge better stability, additional cross braces were installed in every second section of the substructure. In order to keep vegetation away from the jetty in the future, the maintenance of the site was reorganized in consultation with the lower nature conservation authority. The plank bridge is to be cut free in the future as part of the landscape conservation measures. The aim is to keep moisture away from the bridge so that the processed wood lasts longer.

Although the path approaches the road, it is pleasant to walk because it is in the shade under trees and follows the course of the stream. Wildly romantic!

The beautifully located inn dates back to a kurmainzer hunting lodge from the 18th century and is located in the idyllic harbor loch. Specialties such as trout from our own breeding are waiting for the hungry guest.

May 21, 2023,Spessart - Rothenbuch - Räuberpfad durchs Hafenlohrtal
After the Lahn, Palatinate and Rhine, something completely different today.
It shouldn't be too far away and shady, so I chose a FAZ hiking tip...in the Spessart.
As with many FAZ suggestions, there are often wide paths that are easy to walk for everyone. For a long time you only hear the babbling of the stream and the chirping of …

Already planned for Friday, but postponed to today - circular hiking trail: Rothenbuch - RÄUBERpfad "Nature meets history". The path is marked with the signs "RÄUBERpfad" and partly the "Hasenstabweg" as well as "Panoramaweg* Rothenbuch.
@Jule and I set off at around 10:45 a.m. from Maria-Stern-Platz, below the parish church of St. Nikolaus, on the approximately 13 km long circular …

The first tour of our hiking week in Spessart was the Räuberpfad "Natur trifft Geschichte" in Rothenbuch. Our base camp was the "Zum grünen Baum" in Leidersbach.
The hike started in Rothenbuch at Maria Sternplatz. Next to it is a parking lot where you can park for free. The route is very well signposted.
Initially, it leads through the old …

Today I hiked the circular hiking trail in Rothenbuch "RäuberPFAD - Nature meets history".

Very nice route, a bit too much gravel in places, but the boardwalk in the Hafenlohrtal is included.

One big drawback: the signage is very bad, if I didn't have Komoot, I wouldn't have a chance of walking!

The Robber's Land is named after Hasenstab, the arch-poacher who was born in Rothenbuch in 1716, declared an outlaw, and shot by a district hunter of the Electorate of Mainz in 1773. He sold what he hunted at markets and to priests, under the watchful eyes of the authorities. This is just one of the stories that tell through this …

Nice hike, with the stroller there are a few places where you have to lift the stroller over trees etc. There are also a few very steep places.

The hike offers wonderful views

The aggressive mosquito clouds almost the entire way were extremely annoying! So better go before mosquito season.
And take a machete with you, just before you get back onto the road at the Gasthaus Hochspessart, beech trees in need of cuddling have closed the exit from the hiking trail to the road.
From 2.5 km to 4.1 km I would …

A beautiful, varied round from Rothenbuch. Inspired by other Komooters-but then made a round of my own.
Some beautiful hiking trails, gravel roads.
Unfortunately, the Gasthaus Hochspessart was closed due to illness - too bad I was looking forward to the cold cyclist.
Great round - gladly again.
