Hiking car park on the B51 and Marian wayside shrine

Highlight • Parking

Nice suitable parking lot, coming from Osnabrück just before Ostbevern. Right next to the parking lot there is a Marian shrine that matches the area

Loburg Castle Park

Highlight • Castle

The number of visitors in the last two times shows that the rhododendrons are worth a walk over the Loburger grounds. Not only can you admire the impressive plants that are also known from the home garden. A good ten different varieties, including over 100-year-old rhododendrons, which can probably only be found in the castle garden in Loburg, will again find many admirers.

Loburg nature trail

We warmly welcome all guests at the Loburg and invite you to explore our 28 stations on topics from the field of natural and social sciences on our near-natural site. We wish you a lot of fun!

If you want to start our nature trail, turn right in the direction of the palace garden before the palace bridge. The educational trail leads around the castle to the Johanneskirche. You then follow the stations across the school yard and finally walk right around the gym. The path leads back to the castle via the stations next to the sensory garden and the bus stop. In the end, everyone can put their knowledge to the test in a quiz.

And here is another current note: Due to the Corona crisis, the Loburg site is currently closed to visitors. The nature trail can be viewed after the summer holidays as soon as the Loburg site is open to the public again.

The educational path initially deals with topics from history and geography. From the church there is something worth knowing about physics / mathematics (among others). Finally, the gym and school garden area continue with biology stations. In the last part of our tour, the focus is on the subject area "Man and Nature".

Loburg Castle

Highlight • Castle

You'll encounter a wealth of life, curiosity, and commitment when cycling to Loburg Castle: On the one hand, the imposing moated castle and boarding school building are impressive from the outside, and on the other, you'll notice that young people here are thinking outside the box. On the Loburg Nature Trail, 28 stations spread across the extensive grounds provide information on a wide range of sustainability topics, such as which herbs growing in the park can be used as medicinal plants or how to properly care for fruit trees. The students and staff of the Johanneum Gymnasium were recognized by the Diocese of Münster in 2019 as a "School with an Eco-Fair Orientation" for their diverse commitment. It's worth taking a stroll here and engaging in conversation.
