On the route through the Donauried between Leipheim and Riedhausen you pass near the Leipheimer Moos in a forest that has since been wet again. The many trees standing in the water remind me of the Everglades in Florida.
The Donauried is a total of approx. 70 km long and with its 400 km² it is the largest unsettled open landscape in Germany after the Lüneburg Heath.

Ostrich Farm,
Fancy a special experience? A guided tour through one of the largest ostrich farms in Germany? Do you want to learn more about ostriches and ostrich breeding and convince yourself of the health and wellbeing of our animals? You are welcome to visit us and visit our farm.

Welcome to the African oasis
straussenfarm-donaumoos.de

In the idyllic Swabian Donaumoos near Günburg, about 20 km east of Ulm, you will find the ostrich farm Donaumoos - one of Germany's largest ostrich farms. On the 80 hectare agricultural mixed farm have about 400-500 chicks and young ostriches and about 30 Zuchtstraußen any amount of space and best care to feel comfortable.

Visits & Guided Tours

During the spring and summer seasons you can visit the ostrich farm daily. Guided tours of about 1-2 hours are possible from 10 people by arrangement.
Telephone 08221 2732-09

farm shop
In the lovingly furnished farm shop there are products of their own ostriches. For example, eggs, sausage and meat, feathers, leather or memorabilia.

The ostrich
The ostrich (Struthio camelus) is an African bird of passage. In the wild, it mainly inhabits the African steppe in South Africa and Namibia.

With its 2.5-3m head height and a live weight of up to 150kg, it is the largest bird on earth. With his strong legs, he can reach a running speed of about 70 km / h.

Ostriches can turn 60 years old. They have been bred in Africa for more than 150 years because of their feathers. And in this country they enjoy since the early 90s more and more popularity.

There is still much to tell when interested just insert the link above in the browser
