Wooden sculptures in Bad Elster

Highlight • Structure

The sculpture park in the center of Bad Elster presents an impressive, representative cross-section of wooden sculptures by international artists.
The sculptures are arranged in the thematic areas of “organic-abstract forms,” “abstract symbols,” and “figures.” Classic sculptural manuscripts meet experimental, folkloric or constructive concepts and German, Polish, Czech, Romanian or Bulgarian works are juxtaposed with Argentine, Canadian, Swiss and Japanese art traditions.

König Albert Theatre, Bad Elster

Highlight • Monument

Bad Elster can look back on a long theater tradition: performances in the “Alberttheater” on Brunnenberg began as early as 1888.
In 1913, the theater company founded in Bad Elster commissioned the famous Chemnitz architects Alfred Zapp and Erich Basarke to plan and build a modern, representative theater. After less than two years of construction, today's "König Albert Theater" was opened on May 22, 1914 by King Friedrich August III. of Saxony was ceremoniously opened as the last German court theater.
The impressive architecture and the artistic interior design in the public areas with two boxes continue to delight visitors to this day.

Eubabrunn Open-Air Museum

Highlight • Historical Site

In the southern Vogtland on the border with Bohemia, the village of Eubabrunn is part of the municipality of Erlbach. It was first mentioned in documents in 1165.

The Vogtland open air museum Eubabrunn has been established here since 1992.
It has been open to visitors since 1995.

On a 4 hectare area there are three originally furnished courtyards with corresponding outbuildings and house gardens. The buildings were moved from different places in the Vogtland. None of them were originally here.

Permanent and special exhibitions on various subjects are shown in a total of 18 buildings from around 1720 to 1830. Fields are laid out on an open space and historical seeds are cultivated. Animals can be found in the pastures and in the stables.

The "Grünes Tal" inn, furnished with historic restaurant furniture, is also on the museum grounds. There are festivals and special events that adapt to the course of the year in previous village life.
