Kongemindet Observation Tower on Rytterknægten

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Rytterknægten is Bornholm's highest mountain at 162 meters (53 ft). On its summit stands a viewing tower, the Kongemindet. The metal construction was erected afterwards, after the surrounding forest had outgrown the tower.

Castle ruins of the "small castle" with a view of the idyllic Borresø. As everywhere on the island, information boards provide interesting information about the history of historical relics.

Ekkodalen Valley

Highlight • Gorge

The Ekkodalen is a split valley in Almindingen. It is known for its echo when calling against the vertical rock faces. Hardly a hiker can take this fun.

July 20, 2024,Wanderung im Ekkodalen vorbei an Lille- und Gamleborg🇩🇰🥾
A varied hike through beautiful forests. More remains of the walls of Lilleborg have been preserved than those of Gamleborg. The lake is also an inviting place to linger. The best thing is that there are MTB trails around the area where the kids can pass the time🚲 while the parents explore the area on foot.

Large circular route with the most important sights. Unfortunately, the Rokkestenen no longer wobbles.

The Almindingen forest area is really beautiful. There are also old castle ruins, many picturesque lakes, rocks and of course the Echo Valley.
Unfortunately, Koomot did not record part of the tour from Kohullet to Gamleborg. But since all paths are well signposted, you can't get lost 😉.

After the rainy day yesterday we were happy to go hiking again. We chose a round with a lookout tower, castle ruins (Lilleborg, Gamleborg). In ideal weather conditions, it was an experience with mushroom hunting (I think they were porcini mushrooms, but to be on the safe side we didn't eat them🤔), and occasionally going our own way (which sometimes …

Today we went to Almindingen – a common pasture in the Middle Ages, but it was eventually eaten bare. Around 1800, Chief Forester Hans Römer had a 10km-long stone wall built to prevent cattle from grazing the fresh seedlings. Today, Almindingen is a hiking paradise, rich in variety, with the island's typical crevice valleys, moorland, small lakes, and meandering streams. …

Today we were on the wonderful Kongens Borge hiking trail. The Ekkodalen (Echo Valley) is really worth a visit, but this is an absolute hotspot. However, there was nothing going on in the morning. The two castles Lilleborg and Gammelborg are overgrown ruins, but definitely mystical, worth seeing and have their charm. We tried unsuccessfully at the Rokkesten (Backstone) with …
