Federigrat

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

This ridge hike offers a wonderful view.
The path is earthy and grassy all around, which gives you a good grip and there are also wider sections so that even people like me who suffer from a fear of heights can enjoy it.

Plättlispitz

Plättlispitz height: 1763 m
If you are on the way to Federispitz, a ridge walk automatically leads past Plättlispitz and you have climbed two crosses in one tour ;-).
Up here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Walensee, up to the Churfirsten and Glarner Alps etc.

The way from the Federspitz over the Plättlispitz in the direction of Unternäte is a nice balancing act. There are two rope-insured points to overcome (which really are not witchcraft). It is simply a beautiful, harmless ridge path with the most beautiful views.

Winding forest trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This forest path (mountain trail) runs in very small snaking lines. It is a special experience to follow such a meandering forest path.
If you want to get back to Ziegelbrücke from Federispitz or Unternätenalp, this route is more direct and shorter, but maybe a bit steeper.
If you come from the Unternätenalp, you can easily miss the entry into this forest path, so someone has put extra stones on the edge of the road, so you can find the entry.

This section leads over super cool, traily and beautiful forest trails. In wet conditions, they can become a bit slippery and demanding in the downward direction.

July 9, 2025,09.07.25 Vorder Federispitz, Federispitz & Plättlispitz 😍😍😍 (ab Ziegelbrücke)
A little flexibility never hurts in the mountains 👍
When I saw that the Plättlispitz was still shrouded in fog, I abandoned my plan and chose a new route.
Instead of heading straight to the first destination, I headed for Unternätenalp, from there cross-country up to the Vorder Federispitz. It's not an official trail, probably about T4-.

Here is part of an old description of this tour:

Every time I climb up with little prospect, a rugged and never-ending climb, I think to myself: "Why am I actually doing this to myself 😆"... when I get to the top I remember 😍😍😍😍😍😍 and the memories are so beautiful that I do the tour …

Had a wonderful day. Well, as far as visibility goes, we would have preferred to stay further down. Unfortunately, you couldn't see much further up. It was also quite muddy, cold and there was snow. But it was still really beautiful. It was a very special atmosphere. But when the visibility is clear, this hike is definitely great too 🤩

Today a hike first through the forest - then without trees, up to Federispitz and via Plattenbödeli back down to Ziegelbrücke. The bag filled with beech nuts 🥰
A wonderful hike with a magnificent view ♥️

Today I was drawn to the Federispitz again ... unlike the other times (see link where I have already described the tour and the paths in detail):

Nice, but strenuous hike with very good conditions, some snow at the top ❄️❄️ and wet where you can no longer get there, winter is slowly 🙈🙈👍 wish you a nice weekend 😘😊🌞

What a steep, tough, muddy climb 😂 The whole thing really wasn't nice......... since it had rained the day before, it was also a bit slippery and muddy. On Strava, the whole walk up to the ridge took less than an hour......... Kudos to that. The gradient here averages almost 30% 😬

What a dreamlike spring day 🥰! The start in shorts already showed that everything was perfect today. Sun, temperatures, and this incredible distant view... simply beautiful 😍.

The ascent led over beautiful, trail-like forest paths, later off-trail towards the Vorder Federispitz. This ridge (T4) is not marked and requires a bit of intuition; the Nagelfluhköpfe must be cleverly bypassed. And …
