The Salei refuge is located in the heart of Val Onsernone, on an old pasture at 1777 m asl. and only a few steps away from the Salei mountain lake of the same name, from which the famous panoramic view extends to Lake Maggiore. The stone building, originally an old dairy, was reactivated in 1993. The lodge is hosted from May to October and is admitted the remaining months. It has 16 beds and a terrace where you can relax. The guests are spoiled with traditional dishes and delicious desserts, prepared by the guard couple. The cottage has running water, a wooden kitchen, a gas stove, solar panels for lighting and a toilet. The refuge is easily accessible thanks to the Zott Salei cable car and through various hiking trails that start from the typical nearby villages. From the hut it is also possible to reach Mount Munzelüm and Pilone.
