Jungfernheide Water Tower

Highlight • Monument

At the foot of the old water tower is since 2012 again a cozy beer garden with large, shady sun sails and manicured lawns. In the peaceful atmosphere of the Jungfernheide, you can sit here for hours in the sun from the end of March to the middle of October, sipping warm and cold drinks and also eating small dishes.

More information and the exact opening times can be found at waldhochseilgarten-jungfernheide.de/sommergarten.html.

Exciting climbing forest in the second largest park in Berlin. A total of ten courses in four different levels of difficulty are available. You move, of course, professionally secured, at heights of three to 17 meters - a bit of overcoming is also part of it.

More information about the climbing forest can be found at waldhochseilgarten-jungfernheide.de/kletterwald.html.

Station 1: Water Tower

Highlight • Monument

Architectural Highlight
The 38-meter-high water tower is the architectural highlight of the complex. Its original purpose was to supply the 146-hectare garden with water. This expressionist work of art was built from iron clinker brick according to the designs of architect Walter Helmcke and features sculptural decorations and a copper roof.
The tower was damaged in World War II and restored in the 1980s. Numerous viewpoints allow views of the tower from various locations in the park – you can see it from almost anywhere!

The Kestrel
Today, the water tower houses a summer garden and, in the upper third, some very special guests: For several years, kestrels have been nesting there regularly. A webcam provides insights into their nursery. It films from above through a hole without disturbing the birds.
The transmission begins every spring, just in time for the breeding season. You can access the webcam here: waldhochseilgarten-jungfernheide.de/turmfalke

Volkspark Jungfernheide

Highlight • Lake

The Volkspark Jungfernheide is located in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-North. Here you can go for a walk or bike. For families with children there are various playgrounds. There is also a forest high rope course, a beach, the Jungfernheideteich, sports fields and a water tower.

The park is open to the public.

Station 9: Water Lily Square

Highlight • Viewpoint

Romantic View
Let your gaze wander into the distance to the shelter and enjoy the peace and nature around you. This is exactly what landscape architect Erwin Barth envisioned more than 100 years ago. And because everything has been so wonderfully designed, the entire Jungfernheide Public Park is a garden monument, which is particularly cherished and cared for by the Parks Department.

May we introduce: Nymphaea alba
Its beauty has inspired famous painters throughout history. The white water lily (Nymphaea alba) is native to Central Europe and can also be found in the Jungfernheide Pond. From May to September, it produces fragrant white flowers that can grow up to 12 cm in size. The yellow stamens release abundant pollen, which attracts flies, reed beetles, and bumblebees.

According to legend, water lilies are guarded by mermaids who drag anyone who tries to pick them into the depths. While this is (probably) not true, the lesson of the story is still very relevant: Water lilies are protected and may not be picked!

In the Jungfernheideteich live some red-eared turtles, which you can observe on summer days on the branches on the shore while sunbathing.

December 28, 2025,Rundtour durch den Volkspark Jungfernheide => von U Jakob-Kaiser-Platz
After the icy patches, there's more icy patches ❄️... I'm taking advantage of the break for a little stroll through Jungfernheide Park. But even here, watch out, there are slippery spots. 😉

The sun ☀️ is shining on me... as are a few other walkers. The benches by the pond are very popular. I walk around the outside, then around …

... sunshine - let's get out. Everything else has to wait. Heavily packed we went through the Volksbank Jungfernheide in the icy cold. Since it was still early in the day, there weren't that many walkers and walkers around - wonderfully quiet.

I have another appointment this afternoon, so @Joelle and I are just going for a quick walk through the Jungfernheide public park… once around the outside, once around the inside… enjoying the sun… wonderful. 😊

Small round in between in the Volkspark Jungfernheide - it's nice there, I can only recommend it! :-)

🌞..could pass as late autumn... 😉🍁 With the excellent weather today, blue skies and no wind, there were lots of people out and about in the park, a nice walk that you can do more often.

In the beginning I took the wrong path, there was a lot of noise from the street. Inside the park was nice and quiet.
