Traditional Half-Timbered Houses in Cranz

Highlight • Historical Site

In the gateway to the old country, the small village of Cranz with a little over 800 inhabitants, you will always find these typical North German half-timbered houses. Nice to look at and especially the door designs are real eye-catchers.

A very nice place to stop for a break at the Old Este Barrage with a fantastic view of the Este River and the barrage, as well as the Cranz Rolling Bridge. Highly recommended.

Next to the bridge, the "Hanseatenweg" leads through a small wetland. A good alternative to the road towards Cranz. An old wooden bridge is currently not accessible (5/2020), but the path leads through an apple orchard.

A quick look at the last apple blossoms in the Altes Land before the white and pink splendor is completely over. A lovely walk along the Este River. The refugee accommodations, segregated in containers behind the apple orchards, are shocking.
