Located in the middle of Cerdanya and near the northern boundary of the Natural Park, the mines of Sanavastre are an ancient mining operation, in which first it extracted lignite in gallery and then open-pit. In the late 80's there was a definitive closure.
The deepest part of the ancient exploitation is rebuilt with phreatic water forming a permanent pond, around which has grown all of riverside vegetation that often houses a large amount of ornithaauna.
