The station is located at kilometer marker 140 of the current Vía Verde de Segura route, very close to the border between the provinces of Jaén and Albacete. From this point, there are barely about 1.5 km left to connect with the province of Albacete and continue along the Vía Verde de la Sierra de Alcaraz.

Built during the construction of the Baeza–Utiel railway, this station never actually received any trains. It was part of an ambitious railway project initiated in 1927 to connect Andalusia with Levante, a line that remained unfinished despite the construction of stations, tunnels, and viaducts. The passenger building and the goods shed are still preserved, albeit in a state of abandonment, as a testament to one of the great railway infrastructures that never entered service. Today it constitutes one of the heritage landmarks of the Renaissance Greenway.
