The main attraction of the place is its ancient fortification high on a promontory. Although its origin has been shrouded in debates about whether it was built by Berbers, Portuguese, or during the Spanish Protectorate, it stands out for its unique watchtower architecture. Currently, these structures have been restored and some serve as observatories.
