In the spring of 1998, over 200 women founded Altyn Kol, a non-governmental organization whose goal was to generate income through the production and sale of felt carpets and to represent the interests of private felt carpet producers. Soon, more producers showed interest. Women from At-Bashy, Ak-Talaa and other regions of Naryn participated in the seventh exhibition of Altyn Kol.
