The Bach bell foundry was located in Windecken. Johann Peter Bach, born in Hungen, cast the bell for the Reinhardskirche in 1745. On this occasion he probably also met Anna-Katharina Spielman, the daughter of a Windeck council member, whom he married in 1746. He bought the Pflücksburger Hof and built a small watering house in the garden. The large casting house was later built in front of the Kilianstädter Tor. In around 150 years, around 400 bells were cast in Windecken by four Bach generations. This bell is meant to remind you of that.

The wheel is reminiscent of Windecken's mill tradition, especially the neighboring Hochmühle, which now serves as a restaurant. The construction made of wood and metal is smaller than the mill wheels that once worked in the city. Nevertheless, the upper wheel, which is driven by water from a copper channel above the wheel, corresponds exactly to the construction and functionality of its past counterparts.
