Varied hike! The route is partly scree, steep and at Cabego do Fogo with heavy winds. I definitely recommend ankle-high hiking boots with good tread, sure-footedness, enough to drink and a windproof jacket.

Hiking

It is the only levada (water channel) on the island. It was put into operation in 1964 after 11 years of planning and construction and is considered one of the largest construction projects in the Azores. It begins at 680 meters and has a length of 10 kilometers. The entire route is not accessible.

Beautiful trail, following a style of water pipe, previously used in energy production. Many endemic plants and birds can be observed. Quite easy to do and properly marked
