Fortress Ridge Walking Track follows an exposed sandstone ridge with wide views across the Grose Valley and surrounding plateaus. The first section is relatively straightforward, passing through open heath where wildflowers appear in the warmer months. As you continue, the track becomes less defined and drops steeply toward Fortress Falls. The final descent involves uneven rock, short scrambles and sections where you may need your hands for balance.
Near the falls, rock pools sit close to the cliff edge. Surfaces can be slippery, so take care and carry a map, as signage is limited along the route.
