The historic Mezler-Kreuz (also called Schloßbergkreuz) is a striking wayside cross made of red sandstone above Waibstadt. It stands idyllically at the edge of the path under a fir tree. The original Christ corpus is missing today, but the iron holder can still be seen at the crossing point.
The massive base bears a deeply chiseled donor inscription from the 18th century: Lorenz Mezler and Barbara Mezlin von Waibstat, January 17, 1737 (or 1757). The cross thus commemorates its Waibstadt donors and has stood as a historic wayside monument in the landscape for almost 300 years.
