We took the pass, however we've heard that you can ask a worker to take you and your bike through. Watching a video of a car going through, it looks like it might be possible to ride on the raised (sidewalk) narrow shoulder, but don't know if this is possible or safe. Add your comments if you have additional info!

Take the pass! The climb sucks but the descend on the other side is more than worth it.
