Every school day between 1966 and 1969, I looked out the window of my elementary school "Franjo Rezač" into the crown of this old oak tree. One day, I don't remember which grade, we were given a written assignment to write a story about the "memories" of this old oak tree of times gone by and what it "experienced" and "survived" during its existence. If I remember correctly, I wrote something about the difficult life of the Bosnian people under the Turks.

Now I read on the plaque that the then Institute for the Use of Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of Tuzla placed on the old tree in 1987 that this summer oak (Quercus robur L.), a monument of natural heritage, was 300 years old at the time. Today it is 338 years old.
