Executed and designed by Sousa Caldas and Lieutenant Alberto Ponce de Castro in 1934.
It was built specifically for the Colonial Exhibition, which opened in June 1934 at the Crystal Palace. It consists of an obelisk topped with the national coat of arms; at the base, six stylized sculptures symbolize the figures to whom the colonizing effort is owed: the woman, the soldier, the missionary, the merchant, the farmer, and the doctor.

This is a monument designed and executed by Sousa Caldas and Ensign Alberto Ponce de Castro in 1934, during the Colonial Exhibition. The statues represent the professions of missionary, merchant, farmer, soldier and doctor. It is a monumental work, in a crude style. It is located in a roundabout with a garden and decorated Portuguese pavement.
