The Alimonda Castle was built in Sagrado in 1885 at the behest of two brothers from Trieste. They decided to build this building which would serve as a nursing home. Thus demonstrating a certain aptitude for innovation, the nursing home quickly gained a reputation among the upper classes of society. The tourism induced by the nursing home was enough to have a positive influence on the economy of the entire country.
