Heiner Müller was born on January 9, 1929, in Eppendorf, near Augustusburg. He spent his early childhood there until he and his parents had to move to Bräunsdorf in 1933.
In 1947, the Müller family moved to Frankenberg, Saxony. His father, Kurt Müller, was appointed mayor of Frankenberg by the Flöha district office on November 1, 1947.
