In an unique inhabitant of the steppe meadows of the Podubysca lives the gentian blue butterfly. It is a Lithuanian and European rarity, which can be seen in the Maslauskiškiai meadows of the Dubysa Valley on sunny days in June and July. The butterfly is a species attached to meadow habitats common on slopes well warmed by the sun.
