In 1773, Prince-Bishop Clemens Wenzeslaus and Elector Maximilian managed to obtain permission from the Ettal monastery to build a new village church in Seehausen. Before that, all residents of the parish had to go to the island of Wörth to the island church there, which was the parish church. St. Michael was built from the beginning of April 1774 to 1776 under Leonhard Matthäus Gießl. The stones from the island church, which had been demolished shortly before, were used.
