The mural was commissioned by the Historical Museum in Ełk to celebrate the 600th anniversary of Ełk. The mural is located on both sides of the viaduct on Suwalska Street and consists of two parts. The first one shows a railwayman's grandfather telling his granddaughter about the history of Ełk, while the second one refers to the Ełk Narrow Gauge Railway and shows a steam locomotive.
