Galileo Galilei's house is a historic building in the center of Florence, located on Costa San Giorgio 17-19-21. The great astronomer lived here only for a short time; his family also owned a house next door at no. 15, and the neighbors at no. 11 sometimes lent some rooms to Galileo for observations (so much so that there is a plaque there and it is called "Galileo's tower"). The scientist, however, lived for many years at the villa Il Gioiello, on the Pian dei Giullari hill, confined after being forced to abjure by the Holy Office.
