The Barkenhoff is the historic residential and studio house of the artist Heinrich Vogeler, co-founder of the Worpswede artists' colony. In four construction phases between 1898 and 1908, Vogeler transformed a farmhouse into a classically elegant artist's residence, which became the artistic center of Worpswede and attracted many international guests. Today, the restored historic ensemble houses the Heinrich Vogeler Museum with an extensive exhibition on the artist's life and work.
