    Hiking

Ruins of the old farmhouse, burned in a fire and I guess they didn't want to rebuild. Sandstone seems in great shape, not sure why they didn't rebuild, but it's awesome to be able to hike around it.

You can hike the Ice Age Trail: Indian Lake Segment for an easy 4.5 miles (7.3 km) through varied and picturesque scenery. This route offers excellent views of Indian Lake, a shallow kettle lake, as you gain 325 feet (99 metres) in elevation. Expect to spend around 1 hour and 58 minutes exploring serene woods, oak savannas, and prairies filled with oak, hickory, and maple trees. Keep an eye out for the historic farmhouse ruins along the way, adding a touch of history to your outdoor experience.

Planning your visit to the Indian Lake Segment is straightforward, as it's located within Indian Lake County Park. You will find convenient parking directly at the park, making access simple. The park also provides picnicking areas if you wish to extend your stay, along with restrooms, specifically vault toilets, for your comfort. If you plan to bring your dog, remember that they are welcome on the trail but must be kept on a leash at all times.

This segment of the Ice Age Trail is particularly notable for showcasing the unique glacial history of the region. The presence of Indian Lake itself, a kettle lake, is a direct result of the last Ice Age, offering a clear connection to ancient geological processes. As you hike, you'll experience diverse ecosystems, from dense woods to open prairies and oak savannas, all shaped by these historical events. It's a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a landscape that tells a story of natural transformation over millennia.
