The parish of Liblar was first mentioned around 1155 as "parochia Lubdelare" in a parchment of the "Codex Thioderici",[1] a directory of the Benedictine monastery, Deutz Abbey. In this manuscript, Liblar appeared among the listed parishes that annually brought donations or alms to Deutz.[2] The parish church in Liblar was also listed in a register of ecclesiastical income, the Liber valoris, around 1308.[3] The early use of the term parish allows the conclusion that a small house of worship existed in the village much earlier.
