‘Scituate Light’ is a historic lighthouse on Cedar Point in Scituate, built in 1811. The lighthouse was in operation until 1860 and then gradually fell into disrepair. It was purchased by the city of Scituate in the early 20th century and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The lighthouse was put back into operation and has been visible as a private navigation aid since 1994.

The Scituate Lighthouse loop offers a refreshing coastal experience, blending paved neighborhood paths with a charming wooden boardwalk along the beach. You'll enjoy diverse scenery, from pretty homes and seawalls to expansive ocean views, especially from Cedar Point. The route is generally easy, making it a perfect choice for a relaxed outing, though the stone jetty offers a slightly more rugged option for those seeking it.

This 2.7-mile (4.3 km) hike with just 52 feet (16 metres) of elevation gain can be completed in about 1 hour and 5 minutes. Ample free parking is available, and the lighthouse grounds are open year-round. It's a great spot to catch a sunrise or sunset, and dogs are welcome on leash, making it a truly family-friendly and dog-friendly option.

Beyond the scenic views, the trail is steeped in history, centered around the iconic Scituate Lighthouse, built in 1811. This landmark is famous for the "Army of Two" legend from the War of 1812. The area provides excellent vantage points for photography and a glimpse into coastal Massachusetts life, with characteristic homes on pilings and marsh views nearby.
