The Crockett Cove Woods Preserve, a dense spruce and fir forest, covers an area of approximately 40 hectares on the southwest coast of the island of Deer Isle. Lichens and mosses in particular thrive in the cool, moist air of this coastal "cloud forest".
The land of the nature reserve is owned by The Nature Conservancy, an international nature conservation organization, and is managed by the Island Heritage Trust (IHT).
In 1975, the area was donated by the artist and builder Emily Muir from Stonington.
