Embark on an easy touring bicycle adventure along the Tidewater Yellow Trail, a flat, off-pavement route through Goethe State Forest. This 13.1-mile (21.0 km) journey, with a minimal elevation gain of just 57 feet (17 metres), takes you through diverse landscapes of woodlands, swamps, and hydric hammocks. You can expect to complete this ride in about 1 hour and 52 minutes, enjoying the authentic old Florida forest ecosystems. Keep an eye out for the impressive "Goethe Giant," a notable cypress tree, as you pedal through the serene scenery. The trail offers a peaceful escape into nature, perfect for a relaxed ride.

Before heading out, remember that day passes are necessary for entry into Goethe State Forest. The trailhead is conveniently located adjacent to the Tidewater Campground, which provides primitive campsites if you are considering a multi-day trip. It is always wise to carry plenty of water and ensure you have adequate sun protection, especially during the warmer months, as amenities along the route can be limited. Plan your visit accordingly to make the most of your time on the trail.

This route is an excellent opportunity to observe Florida's unique wildlife in their natural habitat. As you cycle, you might spot creatures like the Florida black bear or the gopher tortoise. The forest is also home to old-growth longleaf pine trees and a variety of bird species, making it a rich environment for nature enthusiasts. The Tidewater Yellow Trail truly showcases the ecological diversity and natural beauty of the region.
