Niederrodenbach has had a fortification since the 13th century, although the place never had city rights. One of several defensive towers is still preserved and receives special attention from the mighty stork's nest.

Hiking

The stork nest on the old Rodenbach defense tower is the pride of the place. There are now nine such nests in Rodenbach, all of which are inhabited and incubated. On average, a pair of storks raises two young per year and reliably returns to their eyrie every year. This is the reason why there are more and more storks in the Kinzig valley. We love these animals!
