It cannot be said with certainty how old the Sint-Willibrordus Chapel or the 'Kapelle van Meren' is. In any case, in 1414 there was already mention of this chapel being surrounded by linden trees. But there may have been a place of worship before then. From 1572 to 1918, masses were said regularly in the chapel. From the 1970s onwards the chapel fell into increasing disrepair. In 1990-1991, the then municipal council had the chapel restored.
Since 2011, the chapel has also been available as a wedding location.
