From Altendorfer Berg, a wide view opens up over Einbeck and the broad Leine Valley. The valley floor serves as a floodplain and retention area for the Leine River – floods can regularly inundate areas here because tributaries from the western Harz Mountains also drain into the Leine. On a clear day, one can even see the end structure of the flood retention basin and the course of the Leine River towards Salzderhelden.
