Information about the "old Engelberg Tunnel":
- It was the second motorway tunnel in Germany
- Completed in 1938
- and part of the Reichsautobahn (national motorway) route 39
- After the commissioning of its successor, the "Engelberg Base Tunnel" (1998/1999), the tunnel was completely filled in over the following years, and the portals are now covered with earth
- The old section of the A81 motorway was renaturalized
- There are several benches here
