The Gwynns Falls Trail Loop offers a diverse jogging experience, winding through mature forests and following the scenic Gwynns Falls stream valley. You'll encounter a mix of paved, crushed gravel, and natural ground, with sections featuring rolling hills and even waterfalls along the dramatic "fall line." Keep an eye out for diverse tree species like tulip poplar and sycamore, and you might even spot some local wildlife like birds and turtles.
Planning your visit is easy, as there are no permits or entrance fees required to access this public greenway. Parking is available at various access points, such as the Winans Meadow Trailhead. The trail is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your leashed companion for a run. This route is a great option for a quick, moderate workout.
This 3.2-mile (5.1 km) loop, with its 264 feet (80 metres) of elevation gain, is rated moderate and can be completed in about 33 minutes. It's considered a significant natural oasis within Baltimore City, part of one of the largest urban forests east of the Mississippi. The trail also boasts historical significance, passing remnants of the 19th-century Crimea Estate and offering glimpses of the Carrollton Viaduct.
