The Sömmerda town hall is a Renaissance building from the 16th century and impresses with historical details such as the coat of arms relief above the entrance. During the renovation in the 1990s, the historical character of the building was preserved – even original wall paintings from its creation period are still visible.

The town hall on the market is a Renaissance building from 1539. The surrounding marketplace and the market street were redesigned between 1967 and 1975. The old buildings were demolished and replaced by four-storey residential buildings in contemporary style. The designs came from the architects Wagner and Steinecke (Wikipedia).
