If you're seeking a quintessential Adirondack experience with diverse scenery and rewarding views, the Peaked Mountain Pond – Peaked Mountain loop is a solid choice. This moderate 6.7-mile (10.9 km) hike takes you along the picturesque Thirteenth Lake, through a lush forest following Peaked Mountain Brook, and past the serene Peaked Mountain Pond. The final ascent to the summit is short but steep, leading to spectacular 180-degree panoramic views of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness and beyond, making the 1084 feet (330 metres) of elevation gain well worth the effort.

Plan your visit by heading to the Thirteenth Lake Beach Trailhead. Parking is available, but as with many popular Adirondack spots, arriving early is recommended, especially during peak season. No permits are needed for this route, which is entirely on public Forest Preserve lands. The trail is generally well-marked, but be aware that sections along Peaked Mountain Brook can be wet, so appropriate footwear is a good idea for this roughly 3-hour and 18-minute hike.

This loop is considered an Adirondack classic, offering a true wilderness experience within the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area. Despite its beauty and the phenomenal Peaked Mountain summit views, it's often less crowded than other regional trails, providing a sense of solitude. The trail also offers two primitive campsites at Peaked Mountain Pond for those interested in an overnight stay, adding another layer to your adventure.
