With plenty of switchbacks, the Sierra Canyon Trail takes you from the lovely town of Genoa into the mountains and treats you with some nice canyon views. The trail connects with the Tahoe Rim Trail close to Genoa Peak Road and is a popular option to summit Genoa Peak.
