The trail opens up here into what looks like a moonscape! This is a very neat terrain to hike across, with large boulders strewn out across the sand of the basin. As you continue your ascent, the boulders pack tighter and tighter together, until eventually you find yourself navigating a short bouldering traverse just before the couloir!
