Expect frequent and rapid elevation changes, requiring good fitness and sure-footedness. The trail is best enjoyed in fall or winter for optimal views, and you should plan to start from the Gahuti Mountain Trailhead within Fort Mountain State Park.

    Beyond the natural beauty, this route is steeped in history, featuring an ancient 855-foot rock wall of mysterious origin and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built Stone Tower at the summit of Fort Mountain.
