The striking Monument of the Radicals (Greek: Μνημείο των Ριζοσπαστών) in Argostoli was created in 1933 by the famous Kefalonian sculptor Georgios Bonanos and is dedicated to the pioneers of the radical movement who fought significantly for the annexation and unification of the Ionian Islands with Greece in 1864. On the white marble pedestal, the names of leading figures of this movement are engraved, including Ilias Zervos-Iakovatos, Iosif Momferatos, and Ioannis Detoratos Typaldos.
