Step into a surprisingly green oasis on the Gowan, Pine Creek, and Anna Mae Trail Loop, a unique Arizona hike that takes you right under the world's largest natural travertine bridge. You'll navigate varied terrain, from steep descents with wooden steps on the Gowan Trail to a serene walk along Pine Creek, surrounded by lush pine, oak, and juniper trees. The trail offers an intimate encounter with waterfalls and unique geological formations, feeling far removed from the typical desert landscape.

This 1.3-mile (2.1 km) loop, with 145 feet (44 metres) of elevation gain, is rated easy and typically takes about 35 minutes to complete. While short, be prepared for some steep and strenuous sections, especially on the Anna Mae Trail, which features loose rock and stairs. Good hiking shoes are essential, as parts of the trail, particularly under the bridge, can be very slick. It's a great option for families looking for an engaging, shorter adventure.

The Tonto Natural Bridge is the star of this route, standing 183 feet high and spanning over 150 feet wide. Walking beneath this massive natural wonder is an immersive experience, showcasing how Pine Creek has carved the landscape over thousands of years. The park's unique geology and the unexpected lushness make this loop a memorable and inventive outdoor adventure, perfect for those seeking a distinctive natural landmark.
