The Burschenschaft Rheno Palatia fraternity is housed in the Jakobertor. The Jakobertor dates from the 14th century and is one of five existing Augsburg city gates. Small lectures are also held there, among other things.

Every Augsburg resident knows the Jakobertor. But hardly anyone knows what goes on behind the walls. We knocked on three well-known towers in the city.
While traffic flows below, people learn, play foosball, or listen to lectures upstairs. Every day, thousands of people drive and walk past the sturdy Jakobertor. Very few know that behind these thick walls, people have created their own little realm. As also with the Wertachbrucker Tor and the Jakoberwallturm. The towers are much more than mere landmarks of the old city fortifications. They are monuments with a vibrant inner life.
