The Mittelgasse is one of the narrowest and most historically interesting alleys in the old town. It leads directly from the market square and still shows typical half-timbered houses from the 17th to 19th centuries. The contrast is particularly exciting: the narrow, partly "crooked" houses give a good impression of how simple craftsmen and day laborers lived in the city in the past.
